December 2009 Passenger & Air Cargo traffic at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW

December 2009

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for December 2009 was 694,563 down 0.7% compared to December 2008. December 2009 enplanements totaled 353,737, down 0.3%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 262,090, up 5% compared to December 2008; American Airlines passengers totaled 149,537, down 12.5%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 78,182, down 6%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest) passengers totaled 65,565, up 52%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 38,364, up 9%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 38,275, up 9%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 28,922, down 20%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 17,643, up 6%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 13,300.

December 2009 air cargo totaled 14,609,504 lbs., up 2.5% compared to December 2008. International air cargo totaled 582,958 up 98%. Federal Express carried 9.2 million lbs., up 6.5%; and United Parcel Service carried 2.8 million lbs., up 32%.

Air Services transferred 539,612 lbs of mail, up 39%; and 1.2 million lbs. of belly freight, down 12%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 4,022 down 1.5%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 13,666, down 2%.

January – December 2009 Year to Date

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – December YTD was 8,220,898 down 7% compared to January – December 2008. January – December 2009 enplanements totaled 4,113,544, down 7%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 3,104,552, up 2.5%; American Airlines (including Trans States) passengers totaled 1,850,122, down 17%; Continental Airlines passengers totaled 921,068, down 5%; Delta Air Lines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, Pinnacle, and Atlantic Southeast) passengers 719,864, up 17%; United Airlines (including SkyWest, Shuttle America, GoJet, and Mesa) passengers totaled 469,554, down 10%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 426,039, up 18%; U.S. Airways (including Mesa) passengers totaled 386,604 up 9%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 225,430, down 0.1%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 64,439.

December YTD (January – December 2009) air cargo totaled 156,076,988 lbs., down 22.5%. International air cargo totaled 4,021,461 lbs., down 7.5%. Federal Express carried 100 million lbs., down 1%; and United Parcel Service carried 27.8 million lbs., down 10.5%.

Air Services transferred 5.5 million lbs of mail, down 15%; and 14.8 million lbs. of belly freight, down 28%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 58,410 for January – December YTD, down 18%. Combined operations (including Commercial and military) totaled 174,514, down 16%.
